The NWTF, founded in 1973, has made remarkable strides in wildlife conservation, growing wild turkey populations from 1.3 million to nearly 7 million across North America through science-based efforts and partnerships with state and federal agencies. Over the past five decades, the organization has conserved or enhanced over 22 million acres of critical wildlife habitat and invested more than $372 million in conservation and outreach programs. The “Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.” initiative aims to raise $1.2 billion to conserve 4 million acres, recruit 1.5 million new hunters, and open 500,000 acres for hunting access by 2025—a goal that events like this banquet help achieve.

Beyond conservation, the NWTF is dedicated to preserving hunting heritage through programs like JAKES (for youth), Wheelin’ Sportsmen (for individuals with disabilities), and Women in the Outdoors, fostering inclusivity and education.
