THIS IS BIG NEWS – Another Step Forward at Deep Fork
Please meet “Plugger”, our newest member of the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge (DFNWR) Team.
This last week the Well Done Foundation saw the plugging of our 25th Orphan Well in the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the DF-7. In addition to being number 25 with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in 2025, this project also marked our 100th well across 7 States since the Well Done Foundation journey began in 2019.
There will be much more to come on the organization’s centennial milestone soon.
Additionally in the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge, the Pine 2A, our first of many “In-River” orphan wells in the Deep Fork River near Okmulgee, OK is in full action mode, as we get ready to begin plugging operations in early December!
There has been a total of 33 wells repaired as part of this impactful project. The wells being repaired and cemented here weren’t hidden in a remote field, they are right on the school grounds of Raytown South High School in Missouri. It is home to more than 1,000 students. These wells were leaking harmful methane and other gases into the air around the campus.

When we started the Well Done Foundation’s mission nearly 6-1/2 years ago, we had no idea how we were even going to start to make a difference, we only knew that we needed to do everything that we could to take action.
Today, as our collective teams celebrate our 100th well across 7 states, we are reminded of the overwhelming support, encouragement and generosity that the Well Done Foundation has received from each of you, and we wanted to take this opportunity to simply say THANK YOU and wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

Please meet “Plugger”, our newest member of the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge (DFNWR) Team. We found Plugger near the Pine 2A orphan well project. Plugger had been abandoned. He was malnourished and scared. We were faced with a dilemma – either forget about it and let somebody else deal with it or DO SOMETHING.
So, we got him into the local Veterinarian for an emergency evaluation, and despite the obvious neglect symptoms, Plugger received a clean bill of health, and we learned that he was only about 5 months old.
Plugger now lives his best puppy life with our Chairman (Curtis) and our Chief of Staff (Stacey) and is making periodic visits to the field to inspect and cheer on our work and is holding regular office hours at our Service Center in Okmulgee, OK. Plugger is a great reminder that our work not only helps make a difference #onewellatatime, apparently now we get to add #pluggerthedog to the mix!
